Canada is a fairly diverse country, this is a tough question to answer. I know lots of racist white men who have negative opinions of yellow women and orientals and indians think they are ugly and unattractive and make racist jokes, mainly these men are from southern european (italian) extraction but come from all parts.
For instance some cities like Vancouver, Richmond, Markham, Bramptom, have a majority Asian population, and I imagine they prefer their own women. It can really depend on the kind of white they are. Then some white men like russian-canadian seem to have an east asian or oriental fetish.
I've noticed a wave of spring romantic energy in the States, but in Canada, there was sort of a corollary wave in the fall.
I think in Montreal, part of the lack of dating was not wanting to put yourself out there physically, in the elements.
